Increase Your Milk Supply Naturally

A review of three great products

I love nursing my sweet baby boy. It's such a special time where it seems like only the two of us exist in the world. My favorite times of "day" are the quiet, night time feedings when the rest of the members of the household (including his silly, rambunctious six-year-old brother) are sound asleep. This time isn't going to last, but I'm enjoying it while I can.

While I love nursing, we are a busy household, and I'm finding that occasional bottles are becoming necessary. My little guy is not quite six weeks old, and I've already had him out at his big brother's baseball practices, at PTA meetings, and at numerous appointments and events. While I'm sure I can figure out a way to nurse, sometimes it's easier to just whip out a bottle and feed him.

I hadn't pumped much, so I didn't have much in the way of milk storage. It was time to "up" my milk supply and start freezing and storing more milk. But how?

At the same time this predicament presented itself, I was given the opportunity to review Mrs. Patel's products. Mrs. Patel's offers three products to help moms who are either having trouble with their milk supply, want to pump to maintain their supply, or who, like me, want to boost their supply. According to their website, Mrs. Patel's Fenugreek Bars, Munch Crunch, and Milk Water Tea include "ingredients that have been used by nursing moms in India for thousands of years."

The first items that drew my attention were the Fenugreek bars because, well, they were covered in chocolate! The bars come in three flavors: original, peanut butter, and chocolate. They even offer gluten-free and vegan options. The chocolate coating was yummy, and the bar was dense with an aromatic flavor. You should eat one bar per day to help with postpartum healing and to boost your milk supply.

The Munch Crunch is delicious. Munch Crunch includes the following ingredients: sesame seeds, dill seeds, fennel, flax seeds, ajwain, turmeric, and lemon. You're supposed to take one teaspoon after meals as a snack as long as you're nursing. A teaspoon of seeds didn't sound like a snack to me, but it was actually surprisingly good! I ate this savory little snack right out of the spoon.

And then there was the tea. The Milk Water Tea is far and away my favorite product in this line, and it's the strongest lactation agent in the line. The tea comes in two flavors: Chai Spice and Herbal Blend. I sampled the Chai Spice, and it was so delicious. I was coming down with a cold on the first morning I tried the tea, and it was so soothing and refreshing. I started drinking it at night and in the morning. The instructions call for drinking 1-3 cups while you're in nursing mode to both detox and increase your milk supply. And don't throw your used tea leaves away. They can be used for up to three cups!

All Mrs. Patel's products are to be used AFTER delivery. Results aren't guaranteed, but I was very happy with mine. After eating the bars and Munch Crunch and regularly drinking the tea over the course of several days, I've noticed that I've been able to pump more milk. Instead of getting three-ounce bottles, I'm now getting four- and five-ounce bottles.

I will cherish my special nursing time for as long as I can. But I won't lie that life is a bit easier now that I'm storing more milk. I can go out for an occasional date night or throw a bottle in the diaper bag to watch my older son play baseball. Every woman has different reasons for needing help with her milk supply. Whatever the need, I personally think that it's worth trying Mrs. Patel's products to see if it helps you too.

Results for moms will vary. I was provided with these products in order to facilitate this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and I was not compensated.
